AGC & CFC Celebrate the “Waymakers” Paving the Way for Women in Construction
Women are making their mark on the construction industry. They are helping to drive quality, collaboration, client service, innovation, and so much more. But to do this, they first had to make their way in the industry. While we all play a role in helping each other along, women in construction play a pivotal role in paving the way for other women.
Recognizing this, Associated General Contractors (AGC) Colorado is recognizing the “Waymakers” who are the women in construction who “stand out and go the extra mile to empower, inspire, and pave the way for others in the workplace.” The Waymakers program is part of AGC Colorado’s month-long celebration of 2021 Women in Construction (WIC) Week. From project engineers, project managers, project coordinators, production leads, estimators, and installers to construction business founders, CEOs, COOs, and HR and sales team members, the Waymakers are representative of all of the incredible women who are out there empowering and inspiring other women.
As panelists Ale Spray and Maxine Pryor both expressed during the Waymaker virtual celebration on March 12, “It’s not just about opening the doors, but it’s keeping them open.” For women more experienced in the industry, that means mentoring, coaching, teaching, and networking, helping to create opportunities for other women. For women just getting started, that means getting out of your comfort zone and asking someone to mentor or coach you.
CFC congratulates all of the wonderful Waymakers honored by AGC. In particular we want to congratulate our own Autymn Rubal and Kira Chaffee, who were both honored to be nominated as Waymakers. Autymn manages CFC’s Special Project Group and Kira is a project manager, but they are so much more to our organization. They are passionate advocates, advisors, and networkers not only for the women on our team, but for everyone privileged to absorb their astounding energy, intelligence, and spirit. We are so proud of Autymn and Kira!
