Steve D’Aragon’s 19+ years in the industry include an extensive portfolio of residential projects. He has served as the onsite Senior Project Manager for multiple large-scale multifamily projects for CFC. With his proven skills in leadership, communication, building client relationships, subcontractor management, and budget and schedule control, Steve has a proven track record for completing successful projects.
Steve’s calm demeanor is balanced by his hard-working, always-persevering approach. He takes his work seriously, but never forgets the importance of relating to his fellow team members and being able to enjoy their time together. Clients and colleagues also appreciate his reasonable and realistic approach, focusing on critical, deadline-driven activities to help stay ahead of the work in the field. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and has been part of the CFC family for more than 17 years.
Professional and Educational Background
Steve earned his BS in Construction Management from Colorado State University, and CFC was Steve’s first post-college construction job. He joined as an intern in 2002, and started full-time as a Project Engineer in 2003. Aside from a few years during the economic downturn, CFC has been fortunate to have Steve as a valued team member ever since. While the bulk of his construction experience has been in multifamily projects, they’ve run the gamut: everything from urban infill residential developments and suburban garden-style apartments to mixed-use transit-oriented developments with 400+ units across a 16-acre site. He has also worked on several projects throughout Summit County, as well as a high-end luxury hotel in Snowmass, luxury slopeside condominiums at Beaver Creek, and a high-end condominium development in Frisco.
Over the years Steve has received a series of well-deserved promotions. He became an Assistant Project Manager and then a Project Manager in less than four years with the company. He was promoted to Senior Project Manager in 2015, Construction Manager in 2021, and Director of Operations in 2022.
What Steve Values Most About Working at CFC
Steve appreciates CFC’s exceptionally strong team culture, which starts with good decision making on the part of CFC’s leadership team and project superintendents. From pre-con and subcontractor selection through project close-out, everyone at CFC understands that getting the Owner and Design consultants working together with a team approach is crucial for project success. Steve says, “The key to success is establishing trust and gaining confidence with the client and managing subcontractor procurement in an ever-changing economic climate.”
Beyond Building
Though Steve was born in Riverside, California, he moved to Colorado when he was in high school and says this qualifies him to say that he’s “from” Colorado. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the mountains with his family — glamping in the summer and skiing in the winter — and training for triathlons, bike races, or relay marathons.
