Sam Schupbach’s 25+ years of professional experience bring together 10 years working as an architectural draftsman with more than 15 years in construction operations. He has a unique ability to understand and protect the architect’s vision — while simultaneously understanding and protecting the general contractor’s commitment to staying on budget and on schedule.
Known as an excellent communicator and a fair, honest, ethical leader, Sam is easy to work for and get along with. He establishes clear expectations, encourages idea sharing, and does his best to keep everyone on an even keel. Sam joined CFC in 2015.
Professional and Educational Background
After high school, Sam joined the Army Reserves and earned his Associates Degree in Architecture (drafting) from Westwood College, Denver North. From 1994 onward, he worked as a CAD draftsman for a few different companies. His decade-long tenure in architecture ended with three years at a Cherry Creek architectural firm.
Sam officially made the move to construction, joining a Colorado-based general contractor as a CAD draftsman and Project Engineer, to help him advance his career. After four years, in another significant step forward, he accepted a role as an Estimator and Project Manager with the concrete services division of another Colorado-based contractor. Ultimately, before joining CFC in 2015, Sam gained a range of estimating and senior project management experience with general contractors, including helping to establish the Denver office of a leading Midwestern commercial construction firm.
What Sam Values Most About Working at CFC
Most of all, Sam appreciates the fantastic group of people that make up CFC. He explains, “I don’t know two people who dislike each other here. And everyone is in it for the team effort.” At other builders, Sam has seen office politics and ethical issues that didn’t sit well with him. He sees none of that at CFC.
Born in Dallas, Sam spent his early years in Texas and Georgia before moving to Colorado with his family in 1985. He loves Colorado for its outdoor activities — Sam and his family particularly enjoy hiking, biking, and camping — as well as its incredible scenery. In his spare time, you’ll find Sam volunteering at church, traveling to visit friends and family across the country, and tending to his ever-expanding Lego collection.
